I dove Amed Pyramids in June 2026 with Fresh Fins Diving, by shore entry out of Amed, Bali.

Balinese diving associations sank around 30 hollow concrete pyramids here in 1995, and two decades of coral growth have turned them into a proper artificial reef.

Some of the shallowest pyramids sit at just 4-5 meters, shallow enough that snorkelers rent gear on the beach to go look at them without ever diving.

The Dive

Enter from the shore with a nice Mount Batur view!
Swim past the black sand to reef the reef.
You'll hit a series of 30 artificial reef pyramids covered in life!
There is some natural reef at the site as well.

Marine Life I Saw

2 blue-spotted stingyrays before the reef.
Moray eel hanging under one of the pyramids.
Emperor angelfish.
Amed is known for its turtles!
Octupus changing color under a rock.
Trevally swimming out in the blue
Pipefish and Moorish idols by a reef patch.

Parking & Logistics

We scootered over in our scuba gear to the dive site.
We parked on the street and went down this alley.
Tank porters awaited us at the site, and we entered from the shore.
