Diving Halik (Gili Islands)

No items found.

Halik is a turtle-heavy dive with some of the strongest current I've hit around Gili Trawangan.

I dove Halik in July 2026 with Trawangan Dive, by boat out of Gili Trawangan.

The Dive

Boat dive out of Gili Trawangan, dropping to a max of 91ft.

This was done as a drift dive, current was strong the entire time, strong enough that chasing anything for a photo was a losing battle.

Visibility ran around 80ft overall, but there was runoff from the nearby shore that clouded things up in patches through parts of the dive.

How did a greenhouse make it down here?

I wore a 3mm shorty and stayed warm in the 82.4°F water despite the depth.

Marine Life I Saw

Turtle posing for us.
One of six or seven turtles I encountered here.
Clownfish drifting in an anenome.
Cool coral formation.

The Gili Islands were made for divers!

Dive Conditions

Water temp was 82.4°F (28°C), warm enough that a 3mm shorty was plenty even at 91ft.

Visibility ran around 80ft, though shore runoff clouded parts of the dive.
