Diving Shark Point in Gili Trawangan, Indonesia

I dove Shark Point in July 2026 with Trawangan Dive, by boat out of Gili Trawangan.

It's one of Gili Trawangan's most well-known dive sites as you've got a high chance of spotting multiple whitetip reef sharks here, either tucked under caves and ledges or cruising out in the blue.

The Dive

I started the dive with a backward entry off the boat, turning straight into a drift dive.

You'll usually be dropped directly on top of he Glenn Nusa Wreck, a 22-meter tugboat intentionally sunk in February 2016 at 28-30 meters (92-98 ft) as an artificial reef.

The dive moves through the terrain at drift pace rather than a fixed swim path, so how much of the wreck you see depends on how the current is running that day.

My collapsible camera rod broke right before entry while I was trying to switch angles, so I ended up shooting the whole dive handheld instead.

What Marine Life I Saw

Dive Conditions

Visibility on my dive was 70-80 ft (21-24m), water temp 82.4°F (28°C). Between the depth (92 ft / 28 m) and the drift current, I'd call this an intermediate to advanced dive rather than a beginner site, even though the shark sightings make it one of the most popular dives on the island.

I wore a 3mm shorty wetsuit and it felt completely fine at 82.4°F (28°C) water temp.
