Hidden Reef, also known as Secret Reef, Soraya Reef, or Mirko's, sits in the channel between Gili Meno and Gili Air. It's generally considered suitable for all levels, but the current picked up enough on my dive that I'd call it an Advanced day out there, current strength here can vary.
I dove Hidden Reef in July 2026 with Trawangan Dive, by boat out of Gili Trawangan.
The Dive
The reef starts around 12m and slopes down to 30-35m, thick with both hard and soft coral the whole way.
The channel between Gili Meno and Gili Air typically runs a north to south current, which is what makes it a drift dive.
The boat drops you at the north end and you let the current carry you south along the coral, staying in the 45 ft average range for most of the dive rather than chasing the deep end.
Hidden Reef's coral coverage supports a wide range of reef fish along the slope, stingrays, triggerfish, clownfish, angelfish, and pipefish are species commonly reported here, though what you personally spot depends on the day.
Marine Life I Saw

Logistics

- Budget: $, budget-friendly for a boat dive out of the Gilis.
- This is a drift dive, so a surface marker buoy (SMB) and a dive computer are essential. The boat follows divers down-current rather than working a fixed path.
Dive Conditions
Visibility on my dive was 80 ft (24m), water temp 82.4°F (28°C). Hidden Reef is generally suitable for all levels, but current strength here can vary day to day, and it was moving enough on my dive that I'd rate it Advanced.
