Diving Sental in Nusa Penida

I dove Sental Point in July 2026 with Scuba Center Asia Lembongan, by boat out of Lembongan. I did this as a drift dive.

The Dive

The boat drops you off, and you'll start drifting the moment you hit the water.

From there it's a straight ride, the current pushes you along the reef edge, and you spend most of the dive scanning the coral walls, and occasionally out to the blue.

The boat crew tracks the group the whole way and picks up divers at the surface.

Sental has a reputation as one of Nusa Penida's better shots at big pelagics, Mola Mola, whale sharks, manta rays, and turtles are all known to pass through here.

Logistics

Booked through Scuba Center Asia Lembongan, picked up by boat from Lembongan. This is a drift dive with no fixed exit point, so a surface marker buoy (SMB) and a dive computer are needed.

This dive site is typically done on the same day as Sekolah Desar.

Dive Conditions

I wore a 3mm shorty and it was completely fine in 82.4°F water. If you run warm, you could comfortably go thinner.

Visibility on my dive was 100 ft (30m), water temp 82.4°F (28°C).

Current at Sental is tide-dependent rather than constant, it can run one direction, reverse, or even switch mid-dive depending on the tide,.
