Diving Manta Point in Nusa Penida

No items found.

I dove Manta Point in July 2026 with Scuba Center Asia Lembongan, by boat out of Lembongan.

On my dive, I watched 6 mantas swimming together in a line.

Manta Point is a cleaning station, where mantas come to have parasites removed by cleaner wrasse.

Mantas are negatively buoyant, so they have to keep swimming, which is why they circle continuously in and out of the station, sometimes for hours at a stretch.

It's roughly a 45 minute boat ride along the base of Nusa Penida's limestone cliffs.

Marine Life

The main highlight and attraction of this site is of course, the Manta Rays. A majority of your dive here will likely be spent looking for them. That being said, the site is a thriving reef with beautiful coral formations and abundant marine life, so don't forget to look around!

Blue spotted stingrays were scattered across the sand around the site as well.

Dive Conditions

This might be the most crowded site in Bali. Expect 20+ boats in the water with you when you visit the site.

Visibility was 25m (~82ft) on my dive.

Mantas are seen at this site year-round, with peak season generally running March through June.

Nearby Manta Bay is a separate feeding station (rather than cleaning station) where mantas are often seen barrel-rolling through plankton, if you want to compare the two sites.

Manta Point is generally dove on the same day as Crystal Bay, where I saw some of the most beautiful coral formations of my life, and two elusive Mola Molas!
