What a Week on the All Star Scuba Scene REALLY Looks Like

No items found.

In May of 2026, I went on the All Star Scuba Scene liveaboard, for a 7-night North & Brothers itinerary out of Hurghada, Egypt.

Between the world-class diving at sites like Big Brother Island and the SS Thistlegorm, a private chef cooking every meal on board, Egyptian hospitality, and all the comforts of land while living out at sea.

It was the best liveaboard I've ever been on.

In this review, I'll share what a week on the All Star Scuba Scene actually looks like, so you can decide if it's the right Red Sea diving vacation for you!

What is the All Star Scuba Scene?

The All Star Scuba Scene is the flagship vessel of the All Star Liveaboards fleet, operating out of Hurghada, Egypt.

At four stories tall, and 159 feet long, it's one of the largest liveaboards in the Red sea.

All Star offers several Red Sea itineraries departing from Hurghada or Port Ghalib:

The Boat and Layout

Scuba Scene is a four story, 159 feet long and 34.5 feet wide, diving yacht.
The dive deck has room for the full 26 passengers without feeling crowded.
Two zodiacs are used for dive entry on more distant or shallower dive sites.

The Cabins

The boat wasn't full, and I was traveling solo, so I had the entire room to myself.

There's plenty of storage in the cabinets and closets for you to unpack and be clutter free.

Two people in that cabin would be tighter but the cabins are definitely spacious and luxury. You have your own refrigerator inside of the room that's decently big.

The bathroom runs the full width of the cabin with the toilet on one end, shower on the other, sink in the middle.

Not a bad view to shower from.

A glass wall separates the shower from the sink area.

Each cabin gets a bath towel, two saltwater towels, and a soft robe to wear post dive.

Second Level Pool and Dining Area

Pool on the second level, filled when boat is not in motion.
Second floor air lounge and dining area.

Third Floor Coffee Bar and Meeting Room

Coffee bar got a lot of use this trip!

Fourth Floor Hot Tub & Sundeck

Enjoying the hot tub while docked at Siyul island.

Safety

Hamo, the cruise director, going over the emergency exits.

Liveaboard safety has been under scrutiny following numerous boat fires, so the Scuba Scene takes it very seriously.

The safety briefing comes as a video rather and a live rundown.

The video covers emergency protocols, and every onboard safety feature.

Key safety features on Scuba Scene:

Safety Features

  • Every cabin is on the main deck or upper deck, none below the waterline
  • Metal hull and metal surrounding the galley
  • CO2 fire suppression system in the engine room
  • Numerous fire extinguishers, alarms, and exits throughout the boat
  • Experienced, well-trained crew with regular drills

The Crew & Fellow Divers

Squad goals!
Multiple crew members are always on the dive deck to help with gear.

The crew operates at an extremely high level.

Always ready to serve meals, or standing by with juice, hot cocoa, and towels after a dive. It sounds small, but it adds up over a week.
Outside of Hurghada airport.

Sherif, the operations contact, reached out a week before boarding with logistics info, arranged my airport pickup in Hurghada, and dropped me at a beach resort to wait for the other passengers.

It's a small logistical touch that removes a lot of arrival-day stress, like calling Ubers and Taxis in a foreign country.

The Diving

Hamo going over the site layout of the first site, Gota Abu Ramada.

Before every single dive, Hamo, would brief everyone on the sites history, conditions, and the ideal diving route.

The ideal daily diving schedule goes as follows:

  • 🌅 Morning dive: Usually in the water by 7/7:30.
  • ☀️ Midday dive: In the water by 11/11:30.
  • 🌇 Afternoon dive: Anywhere between 5pm and 7pm.
  • 🌙 Night dive: Around 7pm.

Up to four dives per day were possible, but in reality this only happened two or three of the days.

I'll now list all the dive sites we hit in order, with duplicates removed, so you can get an idea of what it looked like.

Dive Sites

Below, I'll give you sneak peaks at the unique dive sites we hit on our North and Brothers cruise.

The path our cruise took.

Gota Abu Ramada

Small Brother Island

Climbing back on board with Small Brother Islands behind me.

Big Brother Island

Big Brother Island lighthouse.
Jacks circling the wreck of the Numidia.

Jackfish Alley

Jackfish Alley's famous swimthrough.

Shark and Yolanda Reef

Located in Ras Mohammed national park. Sharks along the reef wall plus the famous submerged Yolanda yacht with its cargo of toilets and bathroom fixtures still visible.

SS Thistlegorm

Austin by the Thistlegorm's Turret.
The WWII wreck. Motorcycles, trucks, locomotives, ammunition. One of the most iconic wreck dives in the world.

Gubal Island

Famous gubal island barge (dusk dive).

Siyul Island

Siyul Island is a relaxed, low-key stop on the northern Red Sea circuit, offering easy diving over healthy coral reefs with little current and no crowds.

Dolphin House (Shaab El Erg)

Dolphin House lives up to it's name!

Umm Gamar

Umm Gamar a horseshoe-shaped reef wall about 10 miles offshore from Hurghada.

Arrival & Boarding

Views from Marriot pool.

I arrived in Hurghada the day of the cruise. Sherif, from the All-Star Scuba Scene team reaches out ahead of time to coordinate your airport pickup. They were already there when I arrived, and very quickly we made our way to the Marriott.

With several hours to spare, we were provided with the option of buying a day pass at the Marriott or to buy a discounted day room for the hours before boarding the vessel.

Food & Drinks

Let's talk about the food. I am not a foodie by any stretch of the imagination.

But these were some of the best meals of my life, and I'm not exaggerating at all.

The kitchen team is extremely accommodating. No matter whether you're gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, meat-focused, eat a lot of food, don't eat a lot of food, dairy free, no matter what, they will accommodate your diet on this boat to the best of their ability, and they really care to get it right.

If at any point you wanted an extra meal or more for later, the team was happy to accommodate.

Breakfast

Breakfast was served post dive #1, buffet-style. I had something like this every morning.

Lunch

After dive #2, lunch was served. This was buffet style and tasted incredible.

Lunch was also buffet style. A few of the many selections.

Dinner

After we went down diving for the day, we were going to serve dinner. I'm telling you this is some of the best food I've ever had.

Dinner was the only meal where you were served plates to the table. I asked for another one of these!

Dessert

After dinner, you were served a different dessert each night

Crème Brûlée, my favorite desert.

Drinks

You're allowed to bring your own alcohol and drinks on board. They have an honor system for buying bottles of wine or beer. A bottle of wine was $30 and a can of beer was $5 each. At the end of the trip, they will collect your self marked bar tab.

Coffee, water, juices, were all included.

Pricing Breakdown

Let's do a pricing breakdown so you can better understand how much this trip cost you.

On their website, they list that the cruise starts from $1,850 a week up to $2,250. This does not include gratuity for the crew nor a tax that needs to be paid. unless you're traveling with your gear, you're also going to need to rent your own gear, and here is the pricing of the time that I gave this post

All Star Scuba Scene · North & Brothers

Best Time to Go

🌟 Peak season (October-April)Best visibility, cooler water temperatures, strongest hammerhead activity at Brothers. Most popular time to book -- reserve early.

☀️ Summer (May-August)Warmer water, fewer tourists, lower prices. I went in May and had 100ft visibility with 73-78°F water. Strong value window.

🍂 Shoulder (September, late April)

WiFi & Connectivity

WiFi on Scuba Scene runs off cell signal, so connectivity depends on where the boat is.

When I had service, it worked well enough to upload photos and videos to social media and check my email.

Just don't count on it while anchored at remote locations like the Brothers Islands.

Treat it as a bonus when it works rather than something to plan around.

There were definitely 24hr periods that I did not have internet connectivity.
