How to Shore Dive the Yellow Brick Road

🤿 Entry: Shore

⚓ Max Depth: 24 Feet

In December of 2025, I went to check out the Yellow Brick Road off of Hollywood Beach for the first time.

It's name references the road from the movie The Wizard of Oz, as the site is mainly a long pile of concrete bricks.

They were initially set down as a pathway for a large outfall pipe system, but now, it’s an artificial reef that has attracted a ton of marine life.

On first glance it doesn't look like much, but stay with me!

Dive Site Location

The dive site is located directly in front of the Margaritaville Resort in Hollywood Beach located at the address 1111 N Ocean Dr, Hollywood, FL 33019.

You'll want to enter the water directly in front the resort, Tiki Hut and Lighthouse (pictured above). You can also look for the M7 Lifeguard tower once on the beach.

Swimming Out to the Site

The site runs east to west a couple hundred feet off the shore. I scuba dove from the shore solo, so I had a dive flag attached to me the entire time.

This is required by Florida in order for divers to mark their location for boats and authorities when diving.

What I Saw

The first of many 16"+ Hogfish.
Schools of Queen Angelfish.
Endless Mangrove Snappers & Porkfish.
