Diving the Altuğ Wreck in Kaş

I dove the Altuğ Shipwreck in June 2026 with 300 Bar Dive Center, by boat out of Kaş, on Turkey's Turquoise Coast.

The Altuğ is one of the lesser-known wreck dives in Kaş.

On the same dive you can hit a sunken Cessna-type plane sitting nearby on the seafloor.

The Dive

While being towed to a marina for maintenance, the towing lines snapped.

The boat lost control and sank to its current resting place on its port side.

The wreck will be marked by a buoy.

There is very little about the Altuğ online, especially in English. What I do know is that it was a commercial vessel, I believe a tugboat, and it has multiple levels you can move through.

The air pocket sits in an upper corner of the wreck. My guide pumped fresh air up into it from his tank, took his regulator out and started talking.

I did not try it. That air had just come out of a regulator so it was probably fine, but you do not know what the mix in a pocket like that actually is, and at 90 ft (27 m) breathing the wrong thing can put you out.

The Cessna

There is a second wreck close by, a Cessna type plane. If nobody told you it was a plane you probably would not work it out, and there is not a lot to see.

We swam over and took a look because it is right there.

Dive Conditions

Visibility on my dive was 25 ft (7.6 m) in June 2026.

Water temperature was 71.6°F (22°C).

The site is calm, but at 92 ft (28 m) with interior levels to move through it is an advanced dive, not an Open Water one.

Pair it with the Batigi tank. They sit close together and 300 Bar run them on the same day, which is what a Kaş diving day usually looks like.

September and October are worth considering for summer temperatures with fewer tourists. Many operators close February and March.
