In June of 2026, I scuba dove the Batigi Tank in Kaş, Turkey, a military tank placed on the Mediterranean floor as an artificial reef, accessible by boat and ideal for beginners.

It's one of the most photogenic dives in the Kaş area.

How to Get There

The Batigi Tank is a short boat drive away from the Kaş harbor.

I went with 300BAR dive center.

After spending 10 minutes at the tank, we swam over to a nearby shipwreck as we had plenty of air.

Dive Conditions

The Mediterranean visibility ceiling in Kaş can reach significantly higher on clean days, so conditions vary.

The water is warmest from June through October, with September and October being particularly good: summer temperatures with fewer tourists.

February and March are the low season, and many operators close during those months.

In June 2026, I scuba dove the Altuğ Shipwreck in Kaş, Turkey, a commercial vessel that sank by accident when its tow lines snapped, now resting on its port side at 92 feet (28 m).

Everything I Saw Scuba Diving Kaş Canyon

Kaş Canyon is a two-part dive: a dramatic narrow gorge with button coral and cavern formations, followed by the 1968 Dimitris cotton wreck at 104 feet (32 m).

Diving the C-47 Wreck in Uç Adalar, Tekirova

A decommissioned WWII paratrooper transport sunk as an artificial reef, sitting at 99 feet (30 m) off Uç Adalar. I dove it in May 2026 with Tekirova Diving, and the approach passes scattered amphora and caverns on the way out and back.

Diving the Paris 2 Shipwreck in Kemer, Turkey

A World War I French steamboat sunk by Turkish forces using a plan involving exploding citrus fruit. I dove it in June 2026 with Özcan, the diver who found the wreck himself. At 98 feet (30 m), with 20 foot (6.1 m) visibility and live ammunition still on board.
