Scuba Diving the Batigi Tank in Kaş, Turkey

No items found.

In June of 2026, I scuba dove the Batigi Tank in Kaş, Turkey, a military tank placed on the Mediterranean floor as an artificial reef, accessible by boat and ideal for beginners.

It's one of the most photogenic dives in the Kas area.

How to Get There

The Batigi Tank is a short boat drive away from the Kaş harbor.

Entering the Water

Entry is a giant stride off the boat.

The Batigi Tank sits in shallow, calm water, so the descent is straightforward .
After spending 10 minutes at the tank, we swam over to a nearby shipwreck as we had plenty of air.

Logistics

Kas is one of the more affordable diving destinations on the Mediterranean.

A day of boat diving with a local operator runs well below what you'd pay at comparable European destinations.

Most operators run two-tank morning trips, and the Batigi Tank is commonly paired with one of the nearby wreck or canyon sites for a full day.

Dive Conditions

Visibility on my dive was around 25 feet.

The Mediterranean visibility ceiling in Kas can reach significantly higher on clean days, so conditions vary.

The water is warmest from June through October, with September and October being particularly good: summer temperatures with fewer tourists.

February and March are the low season, and many operators close during those months.
