I dove Gubal Island in May 2026 with All Star Liveaboards, by boat out of Hurghada, Egypt.
Gubal Island has several distinct sites worth knowing before you arrive.
Shark Point is the most talked-about site in the area, named for consistent reef shark sightings. The reef slopes from shallow to deeper water with coral formations throughout.
Gubal Garden is a shallow reef suited for both divers and snorkelers. Dense coral coverage and high fish density make this a productive dive even at shallow depths.
The area around Gubal also includes wreck diving, which is one of the reasons liveaboards prioritize this stretch of the Red Sea.
Multi-day Red Sea liveaboards regularly route through Gubal and give you access to multiple dive sites around the island across several days, a better option if you want to cover Shark Point, Gubal Garden, and the wrecks in one trip.
