I dove Gubal Island in May 2026 with All Star Liveaboards, by boat out of Hurghada, Egypt.

Gubal Island has several distinct sites worth knowing before you dive.

Shark Point is the most talked-about site in the area, named for consistent reef shark sightings. The reef slopes from shallow to deeper water with coral formations throughout.

Gubal Garden is a shallow reef suited for both divers and snorkelers. Dense coral coverage and high fish density make this a productive dive even at shallow depths.

The area around Gubal also includes wreck diving, which is one of the reasons liveaboards prioritize this stretch of the Red Sea.

I dove several other sites out of Hurghada on the same trip, including Umm Gamar, Siyul Kebir, Dolphin House and Gota Abu Ramada.

The Dive & Conditions

Entry is either a direct drop from the boat or via Zodiac, which is what I did.

The Zodiac drops you at the site and picks you up at the surface when you're done.
