I dove Small Brother Island twice in May 2026 on the Allstar Liveaboard Scuba Scene.
Small Brother sits alongside Big Brother Island in the Brothers Islands marine reserve, roughly 150 kilometers southeast of Hurghada in the Egyptian Red Sea.
The site ranks among the best dive destinations in the Red Sea, known for pristine walls and consistent shark encounters: silky, thresher, grey reef, and hammerhead sharks are all regularly spotted here.
Most liveaboard itineraries that include the Brothers also stop at Daedalus Island, making the two a natural pairing on the same trip.

The Dive

What Marine Life I Saw

The brothers islands are famous for gray, silky, and thresher shark sightings, however we weren't able to see any on this dive in spit of diving deep, and hanging out at the cleaning station.
Dive Conditions
Visibility on both dives was 80 feet. May is a strong time to visit the Brothers for shark activity. I didn't notice any current on either dive I did, but I wouldn't be surprised if the area is often effected by them.
